3 way to increase productivity as a Marketing Manager

It’s an understatement to say that your day can get busy as a Marketing Manager. You probably have many tasks to complete and limited time to get them done. It can sometimes feel like you’re just keeping your head above water.

In this blog post, we will be sharing our three tips to help you get stuff done.

#1 Block out time in your day

You probably know this already, but sometimes it can be hard to stick to, especially if you’re being pulled in every possible direction. If you have a lot to do, break the tasks down and plan the following week every Friday. Schedule the most challenging tasks for the mornings; and… Eat That Frog (thanks, Brian Tracy).

Acknowledge that your daily plan can sometimes change, and you might need to adapt. Sometimes you have to extinguish the fires that are right in front of you. When this happens, try to delegate, and if you’re the only marketing person, it might be time to consider getting some help.

#2 Try not to multitask

Even though you have a lot on your plate, it can be tempting to jump in and out of tasks. However, contrary to popular belief, we can’t effectively do two things at once. It’s always a trade-off. So, prioritise and check those boxes off one by one.

It can feel hard to concentrate when you’re being pulled in multiple directions. But distractions threaten your productivity. According to a University of California Irvine study, “it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to the task”. Just think if you’re interrupted three times a day. That’s over an hour lost. If you feel like the distractions are getting in your way, be honest with your team and consider asking them to call you at certain times until your task list has gotten a little lighter.

#3 Use productivity tools to your advantage

There are many apps, software and websites that help you save time. Look into the tools specifically for marketing professionals.

For example, if you’re writing out the same email repeatedly, write a basic template or see if your CRM has the functionality to send out automated emails.

It can be hard to implement or even think about these tips with a busy schedule but trying one can help you manage your time effectively and get stuff done.
